Cardiac technology company HeartBeam has named Peter Fitzgerald, MD, as its chief medical officer.
Dr. Fitzgerald is an inventor, entrepreneur and investment fund founder, and serves as the director of the Center for Cardiovascular Technology and director of the Cardiovascular Core Analysis Laboratory at Stanford (Calif.) University Medical School.
He has founded 24 medical device companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he co-founded TriVentures, an incubator for health start-ups.
"HeartBeam’s focus on bringing novel diagnostic tools to cardiac patients, especially those with a high risk for a heart attack, could have a significant, positive impact on medical outcomes and quality of life for patients while potentially saving healthcare dollars," Dr. Fitzgerald said in an Oct. 11 press release. "I look forward to supporting the planned advancement of the company's rich product pipeline to deliver comprehensive cardiac care for patients anytime, anywhere."
