- In May, HHS' Office of Inspector General released a report with findings from a national audit that evaluated compliance issues with psychotherapy services in Medicare, including those offered through telehealth.
- The DEA issued a statement in May extending the public health emergency flexibilities for controlled medication prescriptions via telehealth while looking for ways to apply appropriate safeguards.
- The Office of Inspector General released a toolkit in April that analyzes telehealth claims to assess program integrity risks.
- In February, the DEA published two proposed rules focused on the prescription of controlled substances via telehealth after the end of the public health emergency that would require an in-person visit before prescribing.
- CMS released guidance in January clarifying that interprofessional consultations can be reimbursed by Medicaid and CHIP even when the beneficiary is not present.
