Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Health Network in Tacoma, Wash., has appointed two chief medical officers to lead the health system.
Vanessa Carroll, MD, is the hospital's new chief medical officer. She began this role March 6 and brings to Mary Bridge Children's nearly two decades of experience in pediatric hospital medicine, according to a March 17 news release.
Dr. Carroll joins Mary Bridge Children's from Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. While there, she served in a variety of roles, including medical director of pediatrics; clinical division director of hospital, surgical and neurosciences; and hospital physician informaticist.
Meanwhile, Barbara Thompson, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of Mary Bridge Children's Health Network, where she will oversee pediatric outpatient services and specialty and subspecialty clinics in addition to the network's urgent care, primary care and affiliate clinics.
Dr. Thompson has served as medical director for Mary Bridge Children's pediatric endocrinology clinic since 2008 and previously served as chief of staff until 2021. She is also on the hospital's medical executive committee.
