Chelsea Hospital in Michigan has appointed Fazleomar Mahmood, MD, chief medical officer. He has served in the position in the interim since December 2022.
Dr. Mahmood has served on the hospital's medical care review committee since 2011, according to a March 13 news release from Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, which is a partner of Chelsea Hospital along with Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine.
He also currently serves as director of the utilization review committee and chief of medicine service.
In addition to his new role as chief medical officer, Dr. Mahmood will continue to treat patients as a rheumatologist with Trinity Health IHA Medical Group Rheumatology, also in Chelsea.
Meanwhile, William Plauth, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health. He will begin this role effective April 3.
Dr. Plauth joins Renown from Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health, where he has served in a variety of positions since 2014, according to a Mach 13 news release from Renown. He most recently spent four years as chief medical officer at Centura Penrose and St. Francis Hospitals in Colorado Springs, Colo.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Plauth will oversee the health system's medical centers and over 50 medical groups, urgent care and outpatient imaging practices across Northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Northeast California.
